1. The Clock Tower: the symbol of Sighisoara

The Clock Tower is the city’s most iconic landmark. Built in the 14th century, it served as a defensive tower and the main gate of the fortress.
Today, it houses a history museum and a terrace with one of the best panoramic views of Sighisoara.

2. The Covered Staircase and the Hill Church

One of the most picturesque routes is climbing the Students’ Covered Staircase, a wooden structure with over 170 steps that leads to the Church on the Hill.

The heart of Sighisoara‘s historic center is Citadel Square, surrounded by colorful houses and cafes with terraces.
Here you can feel the medieval essence: decorated facades, artisan shops, and a relaxed atmosphere ideal for stopping and enjoying a coffee or trying a local Langos.

4. Vlad Dracula’s House

You can’t leave without visiting the House of Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure who inspired the famous Count Dracula. Located right in the city center, it combines a restaurant and a small museum with an atmosphere that blends history and legend. It’s a perfect stop for lovers of Transylvanian myths. We had dinner there and it was a great experience.

5. Medieval towers and walls

Sighisoara retains part of its medieval defensive system with towers dedicated to the old guilds: the tailors’ tower, the shoemakers’ tower, the tinsmiths’ tower, and the monk’s tower, among others.
Walking along the walls offers unique views and the feeling of being inside a living fortress.

6. Church of the Holy Trinity

Across the Târnava Mare River lies the Church of the Holy Trinity, a 20th-century Orthodox gem.
Its style contrasts with the old town, and its surroundings offer breathtaking panoramic views of Sighisoara at sunset.

7. The Medieval Festival of Sighisoara

If you visit the city in summer, don’t miss the Sighisoara Medieval Festival, held at the end of July.
