►Stratford Upon Avon

Located 150 km from London on the River Avon, Stratford Upon Avon is well worth a visit if you are in England for a few days.

Many are those who visit it in the footsteps of the writer, since here you will find his parents’ house, his school, the house where he lived with his family and his tomb, not in vain it is known as the town of Shakespeare.

 What to see in Stratford Upon Avon, Shakespeare’s hometown?

As we told you at the beginning, this city is known as Shakespeare’s town, since the famous writer and playwright was born here in 1564. Therefore many tourists come to it following his footsteps, you will find many places with which Shakespeare had a relationship, but apart from that you will discover a charming town.

It is a good starting or finishing point for a tour of the Cotswolds. The CotswoldsIn our case we ended the route through such beautiful villages in this charming town, and from that moment I recommend adding it to all those who are making a route through the English villages.

Everything is relatively close, so a walking route is ideal to discover the city.

Where to eat?

For dinner we chose the oldest pub in town, “The Garrick inn”. Here we enjoyed a traditional fisch and chips in a charming atmosphere. The exact date of construction is not known, although it is considered to date from 1596 with some parts from the 19th century, making it one of the oldest buildings in the city. The mix of the old building, the local people and the good food, contributed to a very good experience.

To sleep in Stratford Upon Avon you will find a wide variety of hotels and charming B&Bs.
