In our case, we made the journey from <a href=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/en\/trento-the-renaissance-city-of-northern-italy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Trento<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, where we were staying, to the aforementioned city of<em><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/en\/innsbruck-the-capital-of-tyrol-austria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Innsbruck<\/a><\/strong><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The motorway has a relatively short section in Austria, it is the A22 within <a href=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/en\/category\/italy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>Italy<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, and it is renamed the A13 when it passes into Austria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1WwkLaupRDZH1tzjEUSWEKVIZFagrWCLQ\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cruce-por-la-autopista-del-brennero\">Crossing the Brenner motorway<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We stop first of all as we need to in order to make the crossing by car.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6284-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Brenner motorway\" class=\"wp-image-4219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6284-scaled.jpg 800w, https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6284-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6284-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6284-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"compra-y-colocacion-de-la-vineta\">Purchase and placement of the vignette<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To bring your car into Austria, you need to purchase a vignette. The vignette is a paid sticker that is stuck on the windshield. It is mandatory for driving on Austrian roads. It costs \u20ac 9.90 for ten days (price 2022).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You must purchase this sticker before entering the country. They will sell them at service stations on the Italian side, near the border. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the motorway you will see signs announcing that the vignette is sold after a certain number of kilometres, until the last sign says &#8220;last chance to buy the vignette&#8221;. They are very visible on the Brenner motorway, so it is not difficult to find the sales points before entering Austria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You must stick it clearly visible, in the middle of the windshield. Austria has an excellent road network, and its landscape is very picturesque, don&#8217;t think twice if it&#8217;s something you want to do, you&#8217;re sure to enjoy it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Austrian regulations require you to carry winter tires or chains between November 1 and April 15. Speed \u200b\u200blimits are 130 km on the highway, 100 km on the country road, and 50 km in built-up areas. But always pay attention to the signs because they can change at certain times.
