Although some Paris metro stations are outside fare zone 1, a single&nbsp;metro&nbsp;ticket is still valid to travel within zone 1 and end at a metro station that is outside this zone, this is not the case with the RER, be careful, in that case if you leave zone 1 and 2 you need to specify the destination, La D\u00e9fense is in zone 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is La D\u00e9fense? It is a modern business district in the west of Paris. Is it attractive? Perhaps not more than the modern buildings and the contrast with all the classic Paris that we have seen or that we normally see on a visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also true that with a metro ride on line 1 we can get there and explore at least the area around the arch, so it is not a bad idea to take a look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our case, it was the second time we visited the area, but we had not climbed the arch, so that is what brought us there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25ba<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/en\/route-through-paris-districts-i-viii-and-ix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Have you seen our route through the most glamorous side of Paris?<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/defensa-2.jpg\" alt=\"La D\u00e9fense Paris\" class=\"wp-image-9747\" srcset=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/defensa-2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/defensa-2-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Arch_of_the_Defense_or_Grand_Arch\"><\/span>Arch of the D\u00e9fense or Grand Arch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Arc de la D\u00e9fense or Grand Arch is an office building with a viewing terrace at the top. It was inaugurated in 1989 on the bicentennial of the French Revolution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The climb to the top costs \u20ac15 and is included if you have the <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prf.hn\/click\/camref:1011lpmEm\/pubref:postladefense\/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fparispass.com%2Fes-us%2Fparis-attractions%2FLa-Grande-Arche\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paris Pass.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25ba<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.civitatis.com\/es\/paris\/entrada-arco-defensa\/?aid=10563&amp;cmp=postlaDefense\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ticket for the Arc de la D\u00e9fense<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In my opinion, the climb to the Arc de la D\u00e9fense is not a must to do in Paris, since the views are not so impressive. If they already have the <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/prf.hn\/click\/camref:1011lpmEm\/pubref:postladefense\/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fparispass.com%2Fes-us%2Fparis-attractions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paris Pass<\/a><\/em><\/strong> because they are going to use it in other activities, well there it changes, maybe they come to this area to see what it is like and take the opportunity to go up since it is included. Mainly those who have already visited Paris on other occasions and want to see something different.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But well, nothing like experiencing it and drawing your own conclusions, that&#8217;s what we did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the way, speaking of arches, have you climbed the Arc de Triomphe?, it is a beautiful experience, one of the best views of Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25ba<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.civitatis.com\/es\/paris\/entrada-arco-triunfo\/?aid=10563&amp;cmp=postlaDefense\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ascent to the Arc de Triomphe<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/arco-defensa.jpg\" alt=\"La D\u00e9fense Paris\" class=\"wp-image-9748\" srcset=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/arco-defensa.jpg 800w, https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/arco-defensa-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyway, here are the pictures. It was a very nice sunny day from the top of the Arc de la D\u00e9fense, so you can really appreciate what you see and decide if you want to do it or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%96%BAWhere_did_we_stay_in_Paris_on_this_last_trip\"><\/span>\u25baWhere did we stay in Paris on this last trip?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Option_1_Arrondissement_17\"><\/span>Option 1 Arrondissement 17<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We arrived at the 17th district, the Batignolles neighborhood, where we found one of the hotel options we chose. I should clarify that both options chosen are simple three-star hotels with breakfast included. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/fr\/monceauetoileparis.es.html?aid=2008743&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Duette Hotel<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is located very close to Villiers Avenue, and also to the metro station of the same name, about four blocks, as I always tell you it is important to have the metro nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hotel-3.jpg\" alt=\"District XVII. Post the defend yourself\" class=\"wp-image-9751\" srcset=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hotel-3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hotel-3-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is located on rue L\u00e9vis, where we find the charm, just a few steps away, of an open-air market on the pedestrian street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A quiet area, with many restaurants and connected by metro lines 2 and 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prices vary according to the dates chosen, so check here \u25ba<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/fr\/monceauetoileparis.es.html?aid=2008743&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hotel Duette <\/a><\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The truth is that we had a great time in this area, very quiet, away from tourists.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area is beautiful, you see locals walking with their children, walking their dogs, in short, you feel like an invading traveler in a place without tourists. Does that have its charm? Yes, of course, and if it is not your first time in Paris, even more so, it is a pleasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint Lazare station, one of the major Parisian stations, is approximately one kilometre from the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Option_2_Arrondissement_8\"><\/span>Option 2 Arrondissement 8<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We go to the other option chosen and my favorite. We move to the limit of district number 8. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although already in the 17th arrondissement, it is just a few steps from the 8th arrondissement and the Arc de Triomphe. The option chosen was the <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/fr\/princesse-caroline.es.html?aid=2008743&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Princesse Caroline<\/a><\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hotel.jpg\" alt=\"Hotel in Paris. post La Defense\" class=\"wp-image-9750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hotel.jpg 800w, https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hotel-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area is nice and quiet (although just a stone&#8217;s throw from the hustle and bustle of the Arc the Triomphe). There are plenty of restaurant options nearby and it is very well connected, considering that the Charles de Gaulle-Etoile station is just a couple of blocks away, with lines 1, 2 and 6 passing through.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The location is exceptional, a few steps from Champs Elysees, the Arc as we said, and the hotel, although simple, is quite comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That said, prices change due to many factors, so look for your dates\u25ba<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/fr\/princesse-caroline.es.html?aid=2008743&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Princesse Caroline<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Personally I like to be located in a central area or near a point of attraction, so for me it was perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prices in Paris are not cheap, so I&#8217;ll just tell you what my options were this time.
