if you&#8217;re traveling with a <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discovercars.com\/es?a_aid=europaacompanada\">rental car,<\/a><\/em><\/strong> <strong data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1082\">check before you leave whether the company allows border crossings<\/strong>. Not all of them do, and some apply surcharges or specific requirements. A timely call can prevent you from getting stranded at the border.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The roads to Belgrade are in good condition, the entrance to the city is smooth and, although traffic can be chaotic at peak times, it is manageable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_to_stay_in_the_historic_center\"><\/span><strong data-start=\"1383\" data-end=\"1424\">Where to stay in the historic center<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We decided to stay at the <strong data-start=\"1451\" data-end=\"1467\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/rs\/maison-royale.es.html?aid=2008743&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\">Maison Royal<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, right in the heart of the historic center. Strolling along its walls, seeing the cannons, the parks, and the viewpoints overlooking the confluence of the <strong data-start=\"2071\" data-end=\"2089\">Sava and Danube<\/strong> rivers is an absolute must. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We loved going at sunset: the light, the atmosphere, and the panoramic view make it one of the best times of the day. You can take a <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.civitatis.com\/ar\/belgrado\/free-tour-belgrado\/?aid=10563&amp;cmp=PostBelgrado\">free walking tour of Belgrade<\/a><\/em><\/strong>; it&#8217;s an excellent option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Knez_Mihailova_Street_and_the_historic_center\"><\/span><strong data-start=\"2263\" data-end=\"2308\">Knez Mihailova Street and the historic center<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s the city&#8217;s main pedestrian street: lively, full of shops, cafes, and street performers. We walked directly onto this street from our accommodation, and it had a different atmosphere every day. It&#8217;s impressive even before you enter, but inside it&#8217;s even more breathtaking: marble, golden mosaics, and a sense of spaciousness that is astonishing.<br data-start=\"2787\" data-end=\"2790\">It&#8217;s one of those places where you find yourself in silence even when there are other people around. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/BELGRADO-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20992\" srcset=\"https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/BELGRADO-10.jpg 800w, https:\/\/europaacompanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/BELGRADO-10-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Skadarlija_the_bohemian_neighborhood\"><\/span><strong data-start=\"2878\" data-end=\"2911\">Skadarlija: the bohemian neighborhood<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s the &#8220;Montmartre of Belgrade,&#8221; and yes, it has that bohemian and artistic vibe everyone describes. We had dinner <strong data-start=\"3016\" data-end=\"3034\">both nights<\/strong> in this area, each time at a different restaurant. At night, Skadarlija transforms: lanterns, live music, terraces, and an irresistible atmosphere. It houses original inventions, documents, personal belongings, and various demonstrations explaining how his experiments worked.
