Visiting the Harry Potter Studios in London is one of those activities that—if you’re a fan of the saga—you’ve likely circled on your itinerary. But there’s a small detail worth noting before you get too excited about Hogwarts: the studios aren’t in central London, but rather in Watford, northwest of the city.
That is why one of the first questions that arises when planning the visit is quite simple: how do you get to the Harry Potter Studios from London?
You have several options, ranging from going independently via public transport to booking a ticket that includes round-trip transfers to the Harry Potter Studios. In fact, we’ve tried both options, since this wasn’t our first visit.
The first time, we took the train from London Euston, but for our second visit, we decided to try the included transport for the sake of convenience and organization. Having done it both ways, I think it’s worth sharing the differences with you.

Los Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter se encuentran en Watford, a las afueras de Londres. Allí se conservan escenarios, decorados, vestuario y diferentes elementos utilizados durante el rodaje de las ocho películas.
Esto es importante porque, aunque muchas veces hablamos de ellos simplemente como “los Harry Potter Studios de Londres”, no están a pocos minutos andando desde el centro.
La ubicación hace que tengas que reservar algo de tiempo para el desplazamiento y, sobre todo, que tengas bien controlada la hora de entrada que aparece en tu reserva.
La buena noticia es que llegar no resulta especialmente complicado.
Cómo ir a Harry Potter Studios desde Londres
Básicamente tienes dos opciones que nos parecen las más interesantes para un viaje turístico:
- Ir por libre en tren hasta Watford Junction y desde allí utilizar el shuttle hasta los estudios.
- Contratar una entrada o actividad que incluya el transporte de ida y vuelta desde Londres.
También puedes llegar en coche o taxi, pero para una visita turística desde el centro de Londres creemos que las dos anteriores son las que merece la pena valorar primero.

Y aquí es donde nuestra experiencia cambia un poco la perspectiva.
La primera vez que fuimos a los estudios elegimos el tren. En la segunda preferimos olvidarnos de conexiones y utilizar el transporte incluido.
Cómo ir a Harry Potter Studios en tren
Si quieres organizar la visita por tu cuenta, puedes ir en tren desde London Euston hasta Watford Junction, que es la estación más cercana a los estudios.
El trayecto desde Euston ronda los 20 minutos según la información que tenemos como referencia. Una vez en Watford Junction, puedes tomar el autobús lanzadera que conecta la estación con los estudios y que está incluido con la entrada. El traslado en shuttle dura aproximadamente 15 minutos.
El recorrido, por tanto, sería:
London Euston → Watford Junction → shuttle → Harry Potter Studios
Es una opción bastante sencilla y, si ya estás familiarizado con el transporte público de Londres, no debería suponerte un problema.
En nuestra primera visita fue precisamente la opción que escogimos. Fuimos desde Euston en tren y después continuamos hasta los estudios.
Una ventaja de hacerlo así es que tienes bastante libertad para organizar el día y puedes desplazarte por tu cuenta sin depender de un autobús turístico.
Eso sí, hay que prestar atención a los horarios y calcular bien los tiempos para llegar a los estudios con margen suficiente.
¿Se puede ir a Harry Potter Studios desde Euston?
Sí. De hecho, London Euston es una de las referencias principales para quienes quieren llegar a los estudios en transporte público.

Si nunca has utilizado esta ruta, mi consejo es que no apures demasiado los tiempos. Aunque el trayecto ferroviario sea relativamente corto, tienes que contar también con el tiempo de espera, el cambio al shuttle y cualquier pequeño retraso.
Ir a Harry Potter Studios con transporte incluido
Esta fue la opción que elegimos en nuestra segunda visita.
Y el motivo no tuvo tanto que ver con el precio como con algo que, cuando estás de vacaciones, también tiene muchísimo valor: la comodidad.
Ya conocíamos los estudios porque era nuestra segunda visita. La primera vez habíamos ido en tren desde Euston, así que en esta ocasión nos apetecía tener el traslado organizado y no preocuparnos tanto por las conexiones.

Lo que más nos gustó de esta alternativa fue precisamente no tener que estar pendientes de hacer el recorrido por nuestra cuenta.
Para alguien que visita Londres por primera vez y quiere tener el día bastante organizado, puede ser especialmente cómodo.
En nuestro caso, además, sabíamos perfectamente cuánto tiempo queríamos dedicar a los estudios y pudimos disfrutar de la visita sin estar pensando constantemente en cómo volver.

¿Es mejor ir en tren o con transporte incluido?
Después de haber probado las dos alternativas, para mí la respuesta depende bastante de cómo viajes.
Si quieres ahorrar y te manejas bien con el transporte público de Londres, ir en tren puede ser una buena opción. La ruta está bastante clara: Euston, Watford Junction y después shuttle hasta los estudios.
En cambio, si priorizas la comodidad y quieres tener el traslado organizado, yo valoraría seriamente contratar una opción con transporte incluido.
En nuestra primera visita hicimos el recorrido en tren y no tuvimos ningún problema. Pero en la segunda nos apetecía hacerlo de una manera más sencilla y precisamente por eso elegimos el transporte incluido.
No creo que haya una opción universalmente mejor.
Para una primera visita a Londres, especialmente si no estás acostumbrado al transporte británico, el traslado organizado puede quitarte bastante estrés.
Para viajeros que ya conocen Londres o prefieren organizarlo todo por su cuenta, el tren es perfectamente válido.

This is another important question, because it is not just a matter of calculating how long it takes you to get there.
The studies require several hours.
En nuestra segunda visita, estuvimos aproximadamente cuatro horas dentro del recinto, y ese tiempo nos resultó suficiente para hacer la visita con tranquilidad antes de volver a tomar el transporte.
What’s more, there is so much to see along the tour: sets, props used in the films, costumes, special effects, and various areas that constantly make you want to stop and look. Past visits have also shown us that it is easy to spend more than four hours exploring the studios.
That’s why I wouldn’t try to squeeze in the Harry Potter Studios as a quick activity between other London sightseeing stops.

Even if transportation is included, try not to arrive at the last minute.

If you are going independently, factor in the full journey: London → Watford Junction → shuttle → studios.
If your booking includes transportation, double-check the departure point and time listed on your reservation.
Can you bring food into the studios?
This is one of the tips we would have appreciated knowing before visiting the studios.
You can bring food, so you don’t necessarily have to buy everything there.
There are restaurants and cafés within the complex, and you can also find products related to the world of Harry Potter, including the famous Butterbeer.
However, we noticed that eating there can end up being quite expensive, so if you want to save money, bringing something to eat might be a good idea.

Is butterbeer worth trying?
I’m going to be completely honest here: we tried it, and I didn’t like it.

I have to admit a slight bias here: of the two of us, I’m the Harry Potter fan.
And for precisely that reason, our second visit made a lot of sense to me.

So, what is the best way to get to Harry Potter Studios?
After having gone twice and used two different ways to get there, I think the decision is quite simple.
If you want to do it independently, the train from London Euston to Watford Junction followed by the shuttle is a practical alternative. That’s the option we used on our first visit.
If, on the other hand, you want to simplify the day’s logistics, the included transport might be worth it for the convenience. That is precisely what we chose for our second visit, departing from Victoria Coach Station.
And if you ask me what I would choose for a first visit to London, I would probably lean towards the option that includes transport. Not necessarily because it’s the only way to get there, but because it allows you to put aside much of the logistics and focus on enjoying the visit.
On the other hand, if you are already familiar with London, enjoy getting around by public transport, and want to organize the trip yourself, traveling by train is perfectly feasible.
