Travel companions, today we stay in Uruguay and we are going to visit two wineries in the department of Maldonado, Viña Edén and the oceanic winery José Ignacio.
Both are relatively close to both Punta del Este and Piriápolis and if you are spending a few days on the coast they are a good option to visit.
Indice:
Eden Vineyard
Very close to the town of Edén, in the department of Maldonado on panoramic route number 12 at kilometer 26, we find this winery, which is a very good option to visit whether you are a wine lover or if you like to enjoy the mountain landscape of this area. It offers guided tours and also a restaurant.
The vineyards find in the mineral of the soils and the oceanic influence the ideal conditions for production.
Both this visit and the one we will make later are ideal if you are on the coast enjoying a few days and want to change the beach for this beautiful landscape of our countryside at least for one day.

Access is via the path between vineyards until arriving at the restaurant. As we said, guided tours are offered, which you can book on the winery’s website. They last 30 minutes and cost US$15 without tasting and US$9 more with tasting in the cellar.
You have several more visiting options that you will find on their website vinaeden.com
We begin the tour on the upper level where the grapes are processed and end in the cellar embedded in the rock of the hill where the wine maturation process takes place.
At the end we entered the restaurant, which has beautiful views of the mountains, and also passed by the sales store.
The tranquility of the area and the views from the terrace make the visit a pleasure.
A nice walk, especially if you are a wine lover. After this tour we go to another of the wineries in Uruguay that we will visit today.
Winery visit options in Uruguay
Finca José Ignacio Oceanic Winery
We drive a few more kilometers and on route number 9 kilometer 157 we find the José Ignacio farm, an oceanic winery.
At the José Ignacio oceanic estate we will make our entrance along the path between olive groves and works of art. Here we will find wine and oil production.
The tour we will take both at the entrance and after we arrive is a walk through a dream place, literally a park.

During the tour they tell us about the entire process from the production of the grapes until a bottle of wine or champagne reaches our hands.
They offer different types of tours, from a visit to the winery and tasting, a tour of the mill with olive oil tasting, to a tour of both and more options that you can find on their website. The duration of these tours is 1.30 hours and prices start at US$25, but for updated information and reservations visit their website ojoseignacio.com
As in the previous tour, we will obtain information on the process from the production of the grapes until the wine reaches our table.
On the way out, in the shop they have the different varieties of wines and oils.
Both wineries in Uruguay that we visited today are nice walks to do, Uruguay is not only beaches and this type of tours show us that.
